JOB DESCRIPTION

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the successful creation and implementation of programs and services to support the employees of Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC), including but not limited to training, education, on-boarding, and effective benefit administration services to comply with all state, federal, and regulatory requirements with accuracy, efficiency and excellence.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Internal Responsibilities — Under minimal supervision, this role assists with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources functions and duties. This role contributes to the accomplishment of HR practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented and high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, standards, goal attainment, and ongoing development of the DREMC workforce.

External Responsibilities — Engages industry specific and general recruiting resources for talent acquisition, job candidates, and surrounding cooperatives and industry associations as needed to benchmark best practices.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Consistently demonstrates a behavioral pattern that supports DREMC’s 11 Essential Attributes.
Supports DREMC employees through benefits administration, on-boarding, addressing HR-related issues, and termination and retirement processing.
Directly supports the management team in all aspects of employee acquisition, retention, and performance improvement plans.
Ensures DREMC policies reflect current best practices and are accessible to employees.
Administers existing programs with excellence in all aspects of project management.
Consistently monitors opportunities to recommend enhancements where the modifications better serve DREMC members and employees.
Stays current in all applicable laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure DREMC compliance and excellence.
Provides support for the Senior Manager, Administrative Services as well as all DREMC employees and the leadership team.
Manages a wide variety of employee and manager training and special assignments.
Serves as a representative on teams, committees, and activities both internally and externally as requested.
Studies, promotes, and applies DREMC policies, procedures, By-Laws, Rules and Regulations.
Maintains an awareness of DREMC’s cooperative business goals.
Maintains confidentiality in sensitive matters and exemplifies sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education — Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in business administration, management or a related field required.

Experience — Five (5) or more years of applicable Human Resources experience is required. Experience in utilities, utility contractors, or related field is preferred.

Certification/License, etc. – Certificates and/or licenses relevant to Human Resources, are preferred.  (TVPPA, SHRM, NRECA, etc.) This individual will provide proof of or obtain the TVPPA Utility Human Resources (UHR) Certification. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Tennessee Driver’s License. Must be eligible and remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative’s group liability policy for the automotive fleet.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities — The ideal candidate will consistently demonstrate and deliver the following attributes: In-depth, working knowledge of labor law, applicable federal and state requirements relevant to all DREMC positions. Extremely driven individual who delivers excellence and inspires it from others. Electric utility best practices for human resource policies and program administration. Phenomenal listening skills with high observation prowess. Influential public speaking skills and ability to engage a variety of audiences through education and training. Ability to consistently achieve multiple deadlines with ownership of the process and results achieved.
