Youth Tour refers to the Washington Youth Tour held each year in June. It is an all-expense-paid week given to winners of the State-wide Electric Cooperative writing contest. In 2004 more than 10,000 short stories were written about the advantages of Electric Cooperatives by High School Juniors all across Tennessee. Students also vie for $2,000, $1,000 and $500 college scholarships, as well as many more opportunities through this competition. For more information click on Youth Tour above. Electric Camp is an exciting, fun-filled adventure exploring the laws of science and electricity. It is for 6th and 7th grade 4-H students and is held at the University of Tennessee Knoxville Campus each summer. It consist of hands-on activites in which students learn about the safe and proper use of electricity, as well as aspects of other sciences. Electric Camp is one of the lowest-cost 4-H camps the extention service offers. For more information, click on Electric Camp above. Youth Leadership Summit is designed for leadership development and state government education. It is free to selected high school juniors. The cost is co-sponsered by Co-Bank and consists of two days of intensive educational activities, as well as a lot of fun. Each electric cooperatives sponsors two high school juniors for their service area to attend this Summit which is held each March in Nashville. For more information click on Youth Leadership above.
