Youth Leadership Summit
Are you a leader? In the classroom, on the team, in your community, do you guide and inspire others to contribute their best efforts? If so, join other young leaders from across Tennessee at the Youth Leadership Summit, presented by Tennessee’s electric cooperatives.
This unique, high-energy experience will help you develop leadership habits, explore career opportunities in the energy industry and learn to be involved in local and state government
What is Youth Leadership Summit?
Each year more than 40 high school juniors from 22 electric cooperatives across the state attend the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association’s annual Youth Leadership Summit. The summit teaches students to grow as leaders and helps them understand the important contributions that Tennessee’s cooperatives make to our state. They are also given an opportunity to see Tennessee government in action on Capitol Hill, sitting in on committee meetings and meeting with legislators.
Through a highly selective process, local electric cooperatives, along with school officials and guidance counselors, chose participants based on their interest in government and strong leadership abilities.
The Youth Leadership Summit is an exciting leadership and learning opportunity for students throughout Tennessee. All costs are covered by Tennessee’s electric cooperatives.
The Youth Leadership Summit is a free, chaperoned event for mostly sophomore and junior students who are chosen by their school and sponsored to attend by their electric cooperative. Travel may be arranged by the co-op. Overnight accommodations are in a Nashville hotel, with separate areas for males and females. Program goals are to provide a safe, educational experience for students in a fun, interesting atmosphere.
