WHAT IS TECA?
[early picture of TECA]
TECA was officially chartered in December 1942. Its purpose, then and now, is to function solely for the benefit of its member systems and the customers it serves.
Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association is a statewide organization established to serve the needs of Tennessee’s electric cooperative power distributors. The Association currently represents 23 individual power distributors, including Tennessee’s 22 electric cooperatives and one municipal system that is also eligible for membership. Together, these systems provide electric service to 800,000 homes, farms, industries and institutions that represent more than 2 million people.
The statewide association is similar to its member cooperatives in that it is non-profit, member-owned, and controlled by a board of trustees elected by the members.
